New BMW 7-Series to hit dealers soon
The new BMW 7-Series will be arriving into showrooms within the next couple of weeks. With prices starting at £64,750 for the entry level model, the new luxury saloon will be available in a range of different spec levels and engine types.
Starting with the entry level model, the 730d is fitted with a 261bhp turbodiesel that offers 457lb ft torque, top speeds of 155mph and can reach 62mph from zero in 5.8 seconds. The model achieves 62.8mpg and 119g/km for its economy and emissions figures. Next up is the 740Li, which petrol users will find has the same top speed as the diesel but gets from 0-62mph faster, in 5.5 seconds. This model gives 332lb ft torque and achieves 42.8mpg and 154g/km.
Early 2016 will see the introduction of the 740e, the new plug-in hybrid. Offering some big numbers: 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds, 321bhp, 134.5mpg, and 49g/km. After that the performance based models will arrive, including a 4.4-litre twinturbo V8 and a 600bhp-plus V8 powered M7.
A more spacious cabin will be an attractive feature for buyers, as well as the new options. The BMW 7-Series additional costs include: gesture control, heated centre console and armrests, and a glass roof that is able to change colour. Also, never before seen in a vehicle, the car can park itself via a key fob button.
A new addition to the BMW range is its 16-speaker stereo system featuring diamonds. Yes, you read that correctly, diamonds. British speaker makers Bowers & Wilkins have added diamonds to the BMW stereo system to create a sound that goes beyond human hearing. The upgrade, available only to the new 7-Series models, is obviously a costly one – anything including diamonds usually is – and will set you back an extra £4,600.
The BMW 7-Series is set to arrive in showrooms in the UK this November. Test drivers and critics are raving about the drive of these new BMW additions and many say the 730d will be an instant best-seller. What do you think of the new 7-Series?
