BMW 2017 2 Series Information Release

The next stage in BMW’s 2 Series will hit showrooms worldwide from 2017. At this moment we know very little about what will actually occur with this update. Although the information that we do possess, clearly shows a route that BMW are going to take with their beloved 2 Series.

There are two major changes which will occur with the 2017 BMW 2 Series. Firstly, there will be a change to the badge names. Secondly, they will have increased power through bigger and better engine capabilities, which is always a good thing.

The badge names are a very strange occurrence for the company to start implementing, but it also makes a lot of sense. Previously, the names of the vehicles in the 2 Series were related to its engine. For example, the 328i used to have a 2.8-liter engine and the 220d had a 2.0 litre engine. But, as engines are becoming smaller and the consumer market won’t react well to a smaller badge numbers, BMW have decided to do what’s sensible and change the numbers in the best possible way. How have they done this we hear you ask? Well, they have just rounded them up. So now, the 228i will be the 230i and the M235i will be the M240i, genius.

The cars will most certainly be powerful too; this is a result of the installation of new engines. The 230i will produce 248hp and 258 torques. The M240i will now produce 335hp and 369lb of torque. This will allow it to achieve 0-60mph between 4.4 and 4.7 seconds depending on the engine options and 2 Series model chosen.

Both the coupé and convertible models will still remain as the most integral part of the 2 Series. The update certainly does sound good so far. We can’t wait for more information to be released. BMW are certainly a company that keeps on surprising, and so we are prepared for something really interesting to develop…
