The 2013 BMW Z4

The new 2013 BMW Z4 in March of this year. The model has been modified slightly but most of its main character remains.

Changes include a different style of headlights which come with LED corona rings. On the side repeater LED side lights have been placed for extra style. The headlights will have an extra chrome effect at the same time. Neatly the electro-hydraulically roof can erect and fold in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 20 MPH.

The vehicle will come with some generous standard equipment. This includes Xenon headlights, Bluetooth technology and a DAB radio. The Sport multi-function steering wheel is a great feature. Kansas leather upholstery is included in all models apart from the entry level Z4 sDrive 18i.

The car will come in three different colours of Mineral Grey, Glacier Silver as well as Valencia Orange. 17 inch and 18 inch V-Spoke styling will be included.

The BMW Z4 sDrive 18i, the entry level Z4, has a 2.0 litre four cylinder twin scroll turbocharged engine able to hit a maximum of 156 BHP. It’s able to reach 0 – 62 MPH in just 7.9 seconds in just 137 MPH. Efficiency wise the car doesn’t perform too badly either. It is able to achieve 41.5 MPG with emissions of 159 g/km on a combined cycle.

Above that the sDrive 20i will hit 184 BHP and is slightly quicker than the sDrive 18i can hit 0 – 62 MPH in just 6.9 seconds. The car has a top speed of 146 MPH.

The four cylinder twin scroll turbocharged is placed within the sDrive 28i, hitting a maximum of 245 BHP. The sDrive 35i has a six cylinder twin turbocharged engine which hits a maximum of 306 BHP. The sDrive 35is is able to produce 340 BHP. All vehicles are limited to a speed of 155 MPH electronically.

The car goes on sale in March. If you want one you will have to have at least £27,610 spare for the basic Z4s Drive18i. The more advanced sDrive 35i will cost £45,795.

As standard the new Z4 will come with standard manual gearboxes. An eight speed automatic transmission gearbox is also able to be specified. The Z4 sDrive 35is has a Double Clutch transmission as standard however.

The new Z4 is all set to be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show, currently in progress.
