Why is Canada disappointed with the new BMW 328i?

The new generation of the BMW 3 Series was a risky move but one that has propelled the company further ahead of German rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

But surprisingly the BMW 328i has been taken very well by Canada, with some reviews claiming that the car has indeed “lost it’s magic”.

This is now the sixth generation of the 328i. It’s engineering, design, dynamism, performance and economy have seemingly been made better. So what’s the problem?

Some believe that the car’s performance and various other elements of excitement have been dampened down for greater economy and security.

The 328i will come in guises of Sport, Luxury and Modern. Sport versions will include standard features of iDrive, USB/iPod, Bluetooth and an electric sunroof amongst a number of different features. If that isn’t enough for you then there are a number of different options available including park distance control, a rear camera, an automatically opening boot and much more.

The interior design looks quite attractive. The Dakota leather seats with red detailing helps to enhance the vehicle’s appearance dramatically. The seats also fold back to increase the amount of space.

One of the apparent major negatives for the new 328i vehicle was the comeback of the four cylinder engine. The engine develops a maximum of 241 BHP and 258 lb-ft of torque. The car will be able to hot 0- 62 MPH in 6.1 seconds.

The Eco-Pro technology cuts off the engine when the 328i is idle. This is a major plus within the vehicle, with the American luxury car market becoming extremely conscious of a rise in fuel prices.

This time round the BMW 3 Series contains a wheelbase of larger dimensions with a wider track. The suspension has been fine tuned to deliver greater levels of comfort, with the steering being a lot lighter.

The 2.0 litre DOHC inline four engine delivers a thrilling performance which would satisfy most.

There are some pretty delicious alternatives over the other side of the Atlantic. This includes the Mercedes-Benz C250, the Audi A4, the Cadillac CTS, the Lexus IS350, Infiniti G, Hyundai Genesis and the Acura TL.

We fail to see where BMW Canada went wrong with this one. The BMW 328i still stands out as quite an amazing vehicle, one that most would truly want. The 328i has a great mix of performance, looks and that all important factor of economy.
