BMW 8 Series Returning
There have been so many rumours circulating about the reshuffling of BMW’s series’. We recently mentioned that the 6 Series was undergoing a revolutionary change and will soon fit in the sports car category. The 6 Series will therefore rival the Porsche 911 and the Mercedes-AMG GT. But alongside this, it is also rumoured that the 8 Series will soon return.
In February, there were plenty of wild rumours that the BMW 8 Series was going to be produced again, and now the rumours are back but with more solid information. There are many reasons for this. It is believed that a BMW insider has given information to a journalist at Auto Express. It is up to you to decide if that is good enough information to trust or not.
The second rumour, if true, will surely mean that BMW will be making the 8 Series. The motoring world has heard that BMW have trademarked multiple numbers which all relate to the 8 Series. These numbers include; the 825, 830, 835, 845, 860. But, apparently they have also trademarked the M850 and the M8. So will we see the 8 Series?
So, what do you think of these rumours? Well, if you’re still not completely convinced, then what about comments made by BMW’s Vice President of Group Design, Adrian van Hooydonk. He stated that: ‘Obviously we feel very good about where we are right now, but BMW is a company that doesn’t rest on its success of yesterday…We’re constantly looking to expand our range as we have done in the past. We’re looking at every opportunity, and maybe 8-Series could be such an opportunity.’
The BMW 8 Series will include a broad range luxury GT’s with a broad range of powertrains that will manage to rival the likes of Mercedes’ S-Class coupe. The evidence suggests that the 8 Series will be returning is really starting to build up. Do you think it’s going to happen?
