BMW 7 Series – car or spa?
With more relaxing extras than a day at the spa, there’s never been a better gift for the road rager in your life than BMW’s newest car… if you’ve got a spare £96,000.
Some of the features of the vehicle include massage chairs, tailor made fragrances and an artificially designed night sky, so driving the BMW 7 series will have you actually hoping for traffic jams. Although, call us crazy, but we always assumed drivers wanted to stay awake behind the wheel?
With ambient lighting, bespoke fragrances released from a cartridge in the glove box and chairs that can not only be heated to your preferred temperature but also give you a gentle massage, the £96,000 price tag of the BMW 7 Series might feel like a bargain when it leaves you feeling like a million dollars. Detachable tablets allow passengers to control everything from the position of their seats to the temperature with a simple swipe of their finger and the driver can also easily control things with touch-screen technology, changing the radio with a simple twirl for example.
For this car, senses matter. The lighting can be customised and adapted to whatever mood you may find yourself in. The car has two sun roofs that can be opened with sun blinds rolled over, creating a starry sky atmosphere. They even wheeled in professional scent-maker Annabelle Kanzow-Coffinet to ionize the air with eight different scent options (which took her three years, yes – years, to come up with). Tackling the plight of cramp that has faced many a long-haul driver in the past, the car also offers a vitality programme through the detachable tablets that aims to gently stretch and rejuvenate the passengers whilst seated. Though the car might have all the trimmings and then some on the inside, a cool and inconspicuous exterior means the car can blend in seamlessly with traffic. Travel in style without drawing too much attention; after all you don’t want to be gawped at whilst having your massage, do you?
The car also features some autonomous aspects, as driverless cars start to slowly become more of a very real, inevitable, reality. The 7 series is the first production car that allows owners to manoeuvre forward-parking spaces or garages without actually having to be behind the wheel. In fact, you don’t even need to be in the car. Drivers can access tight parking spaces with the simple act of touching a button on a smart key ring.
If you’ve ever felt like falling asleep behind the wheel – something we expect to read about from the latest Hollywood starlet – this car might be perfect. It might come with a hefty price tag, but with heated seats, massage chairs and detachable tablets, living in your car has never seemed quite so appealing; every day could be a spa day.
